Independent jewelery retailer Bradley’s Jewelers York yesterday morning (Wednesday 1st March 2023) became the first to unveil the commemorative plaque for the coronation of King Charles III. was embossed on a piece of fine jewelery by the Birmingham Assay Office.
Owner Kay Bradley traveled to Birmingham to be among the first to receive the commemorative stamp, which was unveiled in February 2023.
Their efforts were not in vain, as Bradley’s 18k white gold Fabergé Yorkshire Rose Egg Surprise locket was the first piece to be hallmarked with the King’s likeness at the Birmingham Assay Office – alongside hallmarks and sponsor’s marks.

Bradley said: “I have a fantastic relationship with the Birmingham Assay Office who have been so supportive in building brands and developing my collections through unique branding.
“As a proud British jeweller, I wanted the opportunity to see the first commemorative hallmark commemorating the coronation of King Charles III. to secure.
“I was thrilled to discover that our Fabergé Yorkshire Rose Egg Surprise medallion was the first piece to cross the line!
“It’s an amazing piece of history to share with my clients and the wider York community.”

The commemorative hallmark was also struck on pieces at the Assay Office in London yesterday.
The coronation commemorative mark of King Charles III, depicting His Majesty’s head on an oval background, is available on request to jewelers, suppliers and designers until December 31, 2024.
It can be applied to gold, silver, platinum or palladium items by any of the four UK assay offices.
